What is Flurazepam
Flurazepam is a benzodiazepine (ben-zoe-dye-AZE-eh-peen) that is use to treat insomnia (trouble falling or staying asleep). It may also be use for purposes not listed in this medication guide. Get emergency medical help if you have signs of an allergic reaction.
Use Of Flurazepam
This medication is use to treat a certain sleep problem (insomnia). It may help you fall asleep faster, stay asleep longer, and lessen how often you wake up during the night, so you can get a better night’s rest. However flurazepam belongs to a class of drugs call benzodiazepines. It acts on your brain to produce a calming effect. Use of this medication is usually limited to treatment periods of 1 to 2 weeks or less. If your insomnia continues for a longer time, talk to your doctor to see if you need other treatment. Flurazepam is used to treat insomnia (trouble with sleeping). This medicine helps you get to sleep faster and sleep through the night. Flurazepam is a benzodiazepine. Benzodiazepines belong to the group of medicines called central nervous system (CNS) depressants, which are medicines that slow down the nervous system.
How does it work?
It actually works by slowing activity in the brain. Like all benzodiazepines, it affects specific benzodiazepine receptors in the central nervous system. This in turn makes it easier to fall asleep.
How it is usually consume?
Flurazepam usually comes in tablets or capsules and is consume by mouth. As it is use to treat insomnia, therefore it should be consume just before bedtime. The prescription label will indicate exactly what dosage should be taken. If you do not understand the instructions. The typical dose of flurazepam is 15 mg or 30 mg. Do not take a double dose if you miss one. Your sleep problems should have improved after seven to 10 days from the first dose.
How long does flurazepam stay in your system?
It rapidly metabolized within the body, with effects peaking around 30-60 minutes after dosing. The half-life (the time it takes for the amount of the drug to be reduce by half in the body) of flurazepam is 2.3 hours. It is subsequently excrete through the urine.

Take this medication by mouth with or without food as directed by your doctor, usually just before you get into bed. The dosage is based on your medical condition, age, and response to treatment.
Although unlikely, this drug can rarely cause temporary short-term memory loss. To lessen the chance of this, do not take a dose of this drug unless you have time for a full night’s sleep of at least 7 to 8 hours. If you have to wake up before that, you may have some memory loss.
